My Approach

My Approach

Counselling with me is collaborative, practical, and grounded in curiosity rather than judgment. I don’t believe there is one right way to think, parent, communicate, or move through the world. We’ll work together to understand what is happening, what matters to you, and what you would like to be different.

I want therapy to feel useful beyond the counselling room. That may mean exploring patterns and experiences more deeply, developing practical strategies, trying something differently between sessions, or simply having a space where you can slow down and make sense of what you’re carrying.

Neurodiversity-Affirming

When working with ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence, I focus on understanding the person rather than simply trying to change the behaviour.

We may explore executive functioning, emotional regulation, overwhelm, masking, relationships, expectations, and the ways years of feeling misunderstood or constantly trying to meet expectations can shape how you see yourself.

The goal is not to make you function more like someone else. It is to better understand how you function, identify what supports you, and build a life that works with your brain rather than constantly against it.

Faith-Informed & Culturally Responsive

For clients who want faith to be part of counselling, I am comfortable integrating an Islamic perspective into our work.

Faith can shape how we understand ourselves, our relationships, parenting, marriage, family responsibilities, hardship, hope, identity, and healing. Rather than treating those beliefs as separate from therapy, we can make space for them as an important part of your life and values.

This might include exploring your experiences through an Islamic worldview, drawing on faith as a source of meaning and strength, or simply having a counselling space where you do not have to explain the cultural and religious context behind your decisions.

At the same time, you decide how much or how little faith is included. My approach remains grounded in counselling practice while respecting the values, culture, and worldview you bring into the room.

How I Work

My work is primarily strengths-based, solution-focused, and narrative, while drawing from other approaches depending on your needs.

That means we may look at what is already working, identify small and meaningful steps toward change, explore the stories and beliefs that have shaped how you understand yourself, and develop strategies that fit your actual life.

I won’t expect you to fit neatly into one therapeutic model. The approach should fit the person, not the other way around.

What Matters

I want you to feel that you can bring your full self into the room. Your culture, faith, identity, family, relationships, experiences, and values all matter in understanding your story.

You are the expert on your own life. My role is to bring curiosity, clinical knowledge, perspective, and support as we work together toward greater understanding and meaningful change.
